Where did you get your last drink of water? Did you question its purity?

Clean water, sanitation, and hygiene education are necessities for a healthy environment and a productive life. When people have access to clean water and sanitation, waterborne diseases decrease, children stay healthier and attend school more regularly, and mothers can spend less time carrying water and more time helping their families.

In Africa, 418 million people still lack basic drinking water service, 779 million lack essential sanitation services (including 208 million practicing open defecation), and 839 million still lack essential hygiene services. Tysons Rotary member Tim Long traveled as a team member on the Zambia Due Diligence Trip for District 7610 Strategic Water Alliance (SWA) June 8-16, 2023. The trip visit included visits to 21 Schools (Two schools had multiple visits), 1 Orphanage, 1 Correctional Facility and 1 Hospital.

Tim’s report made our hearts smile while raising awareness of how much more is needed and our critical to sucess is our commitment. He shared his trip experience with Tysons Rotary at our September 28, 2023, meeting.
