Rotary Club of West Point – Community Service Project

May 20, 2025 | Club News, West Point

The Rotary Club of West Point replaced the decking on a scenic overlook platform, which is part of West Point’s Riverwalk Trail. The Riverwalk Trail parallels the Mattaponi River and marsh land and includes two scenic overlooks. On Saturday, April 26th our club replaced the decking of one of those two overlooks, a task which took nine of us approximately seven hours to complete. The Town of West Point purchased the lumber and additional building materials, while our club members supplied all the tools and all the labor. Fun Fact: Historians believe that this is the site where Captain John Smith was taken as a prize captive in 1607.
