Lake Ridge Rotary raises funds for local community at Celebrity Luncheon
It was the battle for tips at the Celebrity Waiter Luncheon.

On April 23, Lake Ridge Rotary Club hosted its biggest fundraiser of the year at Bistro L’ hermitage, 12724 Occoquan Road in Occoquan.

The annual Celebrity Luncheon features a multicourse meal, raffle baskets and a 50/50 drawing. For the past 2 years, there has been a live auction to add to the fun.

Fire and rescue officials, elected representatives, non-profit leaders, and other well-known members of the community serve as “celebrity waiters”.

In addition to serving attendees, they seek to solicit tips for various dining items, such as water, silverware, and salt and pepper. Many of these waiters take this goal to heart, with attempts to steal tables and outdo one another’s service.

This healthy dose of competition between waiters is all in good fun, as the proceeds go to a good cause – giving back to the local community.

Funds collected through the event support organizations and initiatives, including Action in Community Through Service, Hilda Barg Family Shelter meals, The Fellowship House, and supplies for Belmont Elementary School students.
