Rotary Clubs in District 7610 have always taken a special interest in the welfare and development of youth. In addition to Youth Exchange programs, the clubs in the district also offer music, speech, and essay competitions, Interact and Rotaract clubs, Rotary Youth Leadership Awards--Camp RYLA, and a host of projects and activities that nurture ethical behavior among young people.
Many of the service projects undertaken by Rotarians involve children, youth, and young professionals. So, it should come as no surprise to any Rotarian that Youth Services has always been considered Rotary's unofficial Fifth Avenue of Service in earlier years. The 2010 RI Council on Legislation thought youth so important that it voted to elevate the former Youth Services to Rotary’s Fifth Avenue of Service and titled the new Avenue “New Generations”.
The following provides a synopsis of each of these youth programs. Contact information and resources available on the District and RI websites are also provided.
