Rotary District 7610 Awards Dates to Remember

Timetable for District Awards, 2009-10

Throughout the Year

Submit summaries of your projects and accomplishments as they are completed and submit nominations for District Four Avenues of Service and Public Image Awards (for the club) to the District Awards Chair Hank Allen.

Clubs submit to RI their nominations for the RI Four Avenues of Service Citation (for individual Rotarians).

The District Governor may nominate Rotarians for The Rotary Foundation District Service Award. Submissions by clubs for consideration should be directed to the District Rotary Foundation Chair PDG Travis White.

July 1, 2009 to May 15, 2010  

The Rotary Foundation Citation for Meritorious Service recognizes Rotarians who have demonstrated active service to The Rotary Foundation for more than one year. Only nominations from District Governors and RI Directors may be submitted to and considered by The Rotary Foundation.

September 1, 2009

Rotary's highest honor for individual Rotarians, the Service Above Self Award recognizes up to 150 Rotarians annually who have demonstrated exemplary humanitarian service, with an emphasis on personal volunteer efforts and active involvement in helping others through Rotary. Nominators are limited to District Governors, immediate Past District Governors, RI Directors, and past RI Directors.

November 1, 2009

Rotarians submit nominations for individual Rotarians to receive the International Service Award for a Polio-Free World. This award was established by the Trustees of The Rotary Foundation to recognize outstanding contributions to the polio eradication effort and to encourage participation in the final eradication work. 

November 15, 2009

The Rotary Foundation Distinguished Service Award is The Rotary Foundation's highest service recognition for a recipient's exemplary service to The Rotary Foundation, and such service must extend beyond the district level and occur over an extended period of time. Only nominees who received The Rotary Foundation's Citation for Meritorious Service more than four years prior to their nomination for the Distinguished Service Award are eligible for consideration. Nominations may be submitted by any Rotarian.

March 1, 2010 

Clubs submit three samples of their club bulletins to District Newsletter Editor Jim Gates for Best Club Bulletin Award. Address to: 11303 Fieldstone Lane, Reston, VA 20191-3905; by fax to 703-395-1583, or e-mail to jamgate@aol.com.

Clubs should submit their nominations for RI's Significant Achievement Award to District Awards Chair Hank Allen. The award recognizes clubs for outstanding local community service projects. The District Governor must submit the District's nominations to RI by March 15, 2009.

March 15, 2010

Clubs submit applications for RI's External Relations Best Cooperative Projects Award to Awards Chair Hank Allen. The deadline for the District Governor to submit up to five nominations is April 15, 2010. The award recognizes clubs that conduct outstanding projects in cooperation with other local, national, or international organizations.

March 31, 2010

Club Presidents submit their RI Presidential Citation Certifications to Awards Chair Hank Allen. (Details of this year's requirements can be located on the RI website and in RI Presidential Citation Brochure.) The District Governor must certify to RI the list of qualifying clubs by April 15, 2010.

The District Awards Chair Hank Allen must receive submissions from clubs by this date for consideration of the RI Recognition of Membership Development Initiatives - MDI (submission form for clubs). RI must receive submission forms from the District Governor by May 15, 2010.

April 30, 2010

Deadline for submitting Certifications for Eligibility for the District Governor's Citation to District Awards Chair Hank Allen.

May 10, 2010

Last date for clubs to submit projects for District Avenues of Service and Public Image Awards to District Awards Chair Hank Allen. (A list of awards, the nomination form, and awards criteria are available at http://www.rotary7610.org/awards.html).

May 15, 2010

Beginning May 15, the District Governor may complete and submit recognition forms to RI for the RI Membership Development and Extension Award - MDEA (for clubs), which is a certificate program that recognizes membership growth in existing clubs, retention of current club members, and the organization of new clubs. The District also may be recognized for the award if it meets its membership goals.

May 16 to June 30, 2010

The District Governor completes and submits recognition forms to RI for the District-level Recognition of Smaller club Membership Growth Award, which offers an incentive to clubs that fall below the charter requirement of 20 members by recognizing the challenges and achievements of small clubs.

June 26, 2010

Awards announced and presented at the District Installation and Awards dinner at the Fredericksburg Country Club.

June 30, 2010

Club Secretaries should be certain to enter final membership data for the year in the District/RI database; they should also calculate their member retention rate and inform the Awards Chair Hank Allen of this number. This information will determine winners of the year's RI and District membership awards.
