A Message from Governor Horace McCormack
Dear Fellow Rotarians and Family of Rotary,
It is indeed an honor and privilege to have this opportunity to be your District Governor for the 2009-2010 Rotary year. As you know, RI President, John Kenny established this year’s theme: “The Future of Rotary is in Your Hands,” which “...acknowledges the important role individual Rotary Clubs will play in shaping the future of Rotary.” President Kenny believes that Rotary will not be shaped at R.I. headquarters, but instead will be shaped in each and every Rotary club. He believes that everything begins and ends with our clubs; that they can work together and through their own districts, in cooperation with other clubs and districts and with the help of the Foundation, and while doing so, embrace our Youth – the future of our country.
We have embraced President Kenny’s values and goals at the District level, and to support each Club in achieving the Presidential and Governor’s Citation awards, we have appointed a great team of Assistant Governors, Committee Directors, and Chairs who are self-motivated and committed. The Assistant Governors will work with their teams to support each club in achieving its goals and objectives. A Public Image Task force was established this year to develop strategies and plans to generate increased excitement around our public image, and that, no doubt, will positively impact membership growth and development. We have great confidence in each President and their club to make this year one of the best ever, because they know “The Future of Rotary is in Their Hands!”
It is our hope that you will join Carlota and me as we work together this year to spread the good news about Rotary, and give “Service Above Self.”
