Rotary District 7610 Governor-Nominee, Harry Glenn Henderson, Jr.

Harry Glenn Henderson, Jr. (Harry) has been a Rotarian since 2010. He was asked to join the Bailey's Crossroads Rotary Club by a friend, Juanita Ballenger, who thought that he would be a good fit with the club. He has served the club as President (2014-2015), Vice President (2013-2014), Vocational Service Director (2012-2013), Sargent at Arms (2011-2012), and Public Relations Chair (2010-2011). For the past three years, he has served as a Member of the Club's nominating committee identifying emerging leaders within the club.

During his term as President of his Club, Harry established a vibrant and innovative path for Club Membership growth. In total, Bailey's Crossroads Rotary Club grew by over 20 members during his term and received over 18 club and individual awards that year. Currently, nearly half of the current Club Board is made up Rotarians from that class. For his efforts, Harry was given the District 7610 Club Builder Award.

In 2015, District Governor Janet Brown asked him to join the District 7610 staff as Alumni Chair. In 2016 and 2017, he became the Membership Development Director for the district. He has visited over 40 clubs presenting on issues of Membership and innovative ways for clubs to enhance their membership options. He has also spoken at nearly every District program for the past three years on issues of Membership and Membership Development. In December of 2017, District 7610's nominating committee chose Harry to be District Governor for Rotary Year 2020-2021. Harry is a Paul Harris Fellow, Paul Harris Society Member, and a Paul Harris plus 1 donor. He is also a Benefactor and Sustaining Member.

Since 2008 and the birth of his daughter, Harry has been an advocate for disability issues and individuals with disabilities. In 2014, Harry was appointed by the Governor to the Commonwealth of Virginia's State Independent Living Council (SILC). In 2017, Harry was appointed by Fairfax County School Board Member Sandy Evans to the Fairfax County Public School's Committee for Assistance for Students with Disabilities.

Born and raised in Greensburg, Pennsylvania, Harry graduated from the George Washington University. He also has a Masters Degree from a small school in Western Pennsylvania. He is the President of Anchor Consulting, LLC and Vice Chairman of the JKL Group. He has worked with numerous sectors of both business and government including higher education, water and environment, and defense and security. A self-professed "serial entrepreneur", Harry is always looking for the next business to become involved with.

The two proudest distinctions that Harry claims are that he is married to the love of his life, Catherin Henderson, and is a proud father to his daughter, Jackie. The family resides in Alexandria, Virginia. They love to travel - primarily on cruises - and go to the beach (South Carolina) and the mountains (West Virginia). He is an avid golfer, sports enthusiast (anything involving a team from Pittsburgh, Chelsea Football Club, and the Washington Nationals), and award-winning chef.
